Do you sell new and used instruments?
Yes, we sell both new and reconditioned and used instruments. As an authorized dealer for over 50 major manufacturers, we have a substantial supply of new, reconditioned and used band instruments.  
 
What brands do you offer?
We are an authorized dealer for over 50 major brand manufacturers including Selmer, Bach, Conn, King, Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Ludwig, Pearl, Yamaha and many more. See our list of manufacturers. 
 
Do you accept international orders?
No. This site is intended for use by visitors and customers within the United States and US Territories. We do NOT accept international sales from this site. If you reside outside the United States and its Territories, please call us at 1-800-USA-BAND (1-800-872-2263) for information and assistance. 
 
What methods of payment do you accept?
Credit Cards:  We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express Credit Cards.
To avoid any processing delays, please provide the credit cardholder's name and address on file with the credit card issuing bank. For the protection of our customers, all credit card orders are subject to name and address verification.

Checks & Money Orders:  We accept Checks and Money Orders for mail orders. Simply complete the online shopping cart with your product choices and shipping information. Print out the cart's information and mail it in to us with your check or money order.

A $25 fee will be charged for returned checks.

Do you accept School Purchase Orders?
Yes!  We do accept School Purchase Orders. Simply select the School Order check box in the order process, input your School Purchase Order and information and submit your order. You may also submit your order by Fax 1-605-225-2051 or Mail (Taylor Music, Inc. 513 S Main, Aberdeen, SD 57401).

Shipping & Verifying School Orders.
All school orders will be shipped to their official school address only. For security reasons, it may be necessary for us to verify your order with the school. To avoid processing delays, please provide the most accurate billing and shipping information available.

School Payment Terms.
Payment on school orders is due within 30 days from receiving your merchandise. Your school will receive a monthly statement along with invoice copies.
 
How long does it take before I will receive my order?
Orders begin processing upon receipt and are normally shipped within 2-3 business days. If there is a delay in your order, we will notify you by email or by phone.  
 
How do I know if my item is on backorder?
If any product is not available, we will contact you by email or phone with up to date delivery information.  
 
What is a Special Order item?
Special Order items are those items not normally requested and therefore are usually not in kept in stock. Special Order items carry a 20% Factory Re-Stocking Fee if the item is returned.

If a product you ordered is a Special Order item, you will be notified BEFORE THE ORDER IS PLACED WITH THE FACTORY regarding the 20% restocking fee charge policy. 
 
Will I be charged Sales Tax?
Sales tax is only collected if you are shipping to an address in the State of South Dakota. All other areas are will not be charged sales tax.  
 
Do you send instruments out on approval or trial?
No. However, we do provide a 30 day money back guarantee on our products.

What methods of shipping do you offer?
UPS is our primary shipping carrier. Unless otherwise requested, your order will be shipped by UPS or USPS for AK, HI, AE, AA, AP, GU, VI, PR shipments.

48 States:  Standard UPS Ground Delivery, UPS 2nd Day Air and UPS Next Day Air
Alaska and Hawaii:  USPS Priority Mail, UPS 2nd Day Air and UPS Next Day Air

UPS Delivery Information:
   UPS will not deliver to P.O. Boxes. 
   You must provide a valid street address for us to ship your order by UPS.

Unless specifically requested, we do not require a signature for deliveries. It is solely up to the carrier's discretion whether or not to leave a package at your door if no one is home. For your protection, please ship to an address where someone will be there to accept the package.

Truck Shipments:
Truck shipments are necessary for larger items. Once your order is received, we will notify you with an estimated cost on truck shipping. You will have the option to cancel your order if necessary.

What if my order arrives damaged?
UPS Shipments:
If any concealed loss or damage is discovered on UPS shipments, RETAIN THE CONTENTS, CARTON AND ALL PACKING MATERIALS. Without these, no claim for damage can be made and we will be unable it issue any replacement of credit. Notify us immediately and we will issue the proper pickup forms for the merchandise to be returned to us.

REMEMBER!  Without the damaged carton and packing materials, we are powerless to help you with your claim.

Truck Shipments:
If any damage is discovered, NOTIFY THE DELIVERING CARRIER AT ONCE and request him to make an inspection. This is absolutely necessary. Unless you do this immediate, the transportation companies will not honor your claim for loss or damage.
  
Do you offer COD?
No, we do not ship COD. Payment or charge to an authorized account is required before shipment of merchandise.

Your satisfaction is our top priority. If you find anything not to your liking, return the item within 30 days from date of invoice for a full refund or exchange.

Returns must be in the same condition as when received with original packaging. We inspect returns and upon approved inspection, your purchase will be refunded. Returns not in the original condition or incomplete, may be subject to a charge.

You have the option of returning the equipment and canceling the contract upon each annual installment date with previous payments non-refundable.
 
Do I need an RMA# to return a product to you?
No an RMA# is not required to return merchandise to us. When returning merchandise, make sure the item is properly packaged and include a copy of your invoice along with a note requesting your return/exchange. Items should be returned prepaid by a traceable method. See our return policy for more information. 
 
Can I return a Special Order item?
Yes, however, Special Order Items are subject to a factory restocking fee of 20%.

 Trade-In Instruments

Do you take instruments in on trade?
Yes! We take all instruments on trade.
Before putting your old instrument(s) in the attic consider trading them in towards your instrument purchase. We will take any instruments you are no longer using and give you a trade allowance to use towards anything we sell!

Whether you have one instrument or several instruments, give us your list and we'll give you a price. We take Brasswinds, Woodwinds, Percussion Equipment.
 
If I decide to trade-in my instrument, when and how do I send it in?
Trade-in instruments are due within 30-45 days of receiving your purchase.

Trade-in instruments should be sent prepaid to:

A return label will be included with your invoice for your convenience in shipping your trade instrument.
 
What if I have more than one instrument to trade in?
Whether one instrument or several we will give you a Trade Allowance to use towards future purchases. Call us at 1-800-872-2263 with your list of instruments to trade and the item(s) you are looking to purchase. Ask how our Instrument Trading Program can work for Schools.
 
What if I have large items too big for UPS to ship to you?
If your trade instruments are too large for UPS, truck shipping arrangements will need to be made.  Because we receive a substantial discount from the truck company, we suggest you contact us and we will make arrangements for the truck company to pick up your packages for you. When your trades arrive, we will receive a freight invoice showing the exact shipping costs. Freight costs will be invoiced and forwarded to you.

What warranty do I have on my instrument purchase?
Standard Instrument Purchases:

New & Demo Model Instruments:
Each Manufacturer offers its own warranty on their product. Specific warranty information is provided with your instrument purchase. To make sure you instrument is fully covered, refer to your warranty information card sent with your purchase and mail it in to the manufacturer. Should your new instrument need warranty service preformed, contact us directly at 1-800-872-2263.

     Important:  Do not send the instrument to the manufacturer as warranty
                         claims/service must be processed through an authorized dealer.

Reconditioned, Econo Overhauled, Refinished Overhauled and Used Instruments:
1 Year Adjustment & Service Warranty provided by Taylor Music.

Our Adjustment and Service Warranty

The Adjustment & Service Warranty covers adjustments and defects in material or workmanship for one-full year from date of purchase.

Wood instruments are covered against cracking for six months during which we will repair the section by pinning, or replacement.

This warranty does not cover any damage caused by negligence, willful destruction or normal wear.

Repairs are made at No Charge here at our repair facility.  You pay for shipping in and we pay for shipping back out.

Who performs the warranty work on my instrument?
In most cases, all warranty work will be performed by our repair technicians at our store location.  There are times when a new instrument may need to be sent to the the factory for repair or replacement. Please contact us at 1-800-872-2263 if you feel your instrument is need of warranty repair service for proper shipping instructions. 

We do also have 3 Trusted & Authorized Warranty Repair shops (in AK, NC, TX).
If your location is closer to one of them, you can contact them for repair.

What types of repair service do you offer?
Our Repair Department consists of 30 Instrument Repair Technicians. Our staff is equipped to provide anything from basic maintenance to a complete overhaul of your instrument.

 

How do I go about getting my instrument repaired?
Please contact us at 1-800-872-2263 and ask for our Repair Department to discuss your instrument repair. They will advise you on the appropriate repair necessary based upon your description of the problem. Upon receipt of your instrument, our technicians will examine your instrument and contact you if there is anything out of the ordinary which may change the repair price quoted to you. Any additional repairs needed will not be performed without your prior authorization.

How do I know if my instrument is still under warranty?
Standard instrument purchases, whether new or refurbished or used, are under warranty for one year from date of invoice. Instruments purchased on a payment plan program are under warranty for the entire length of the payment period. See our warranty section for detailed information.

Instrument models are divided into 3 basic levels based on craftsmanship and performance capabilities.  The three basic instrument levels are Student, Intermediate and Professional.

Student Level:
Student level instruments are for the beginning band student. Typically, this is the first instrument a parent will buy for their child.

Intermediate Level:
Intermediate level instruments are a step above the student level.

Demo Model Instruments are new instruments that have acquired a minor dent or finish blemish. Instrument is completely cleaned, adjusted and shop tested to perform as new.

Beginner Return Models
Beginner Return Model Instruments were new instruments that have been used for 1 year or less. These instruments are in excellent condition with only minor blemishes. Instrument is completely cleaned, adjusted and shop tested to perform as new.

This overhaul is typically performed on professional or collector model instruments.

Used Drums
Drum shell and hardware may show wear with nicks, scratches and spots of finish peeling or fading. Broken hardware is replaced with same or similar type mechanisms. Drums are completely cleaned, adjusted and shop tested. Complete with new heads.
